You get home from a hard day at work: now you clock in at your second or maybe even third job,the one without pay. Dont worry Mom will help the kids with homework, do the laundry, cook, clean up the kitchen after dinner, bathe the kids, and then take off the face. Now, while you are doing all of this the man of your dreams is lying comfortably on the sofa channel surfing. But that's not all...remember this morning? You got up early, made breakfast, got the kids to school, got yourself ready for the day, and did your best to be at work on time. Woo, I'm already tired just thinking about it! Does this sound familiar.
Questions: Are we supposed to fit God into all of our "busyness" or should our "busyness" be fitted around God? Where does God rank in life? Is He to come before my hubsband, kids, carrer, my own personal desrires? How can I be the Proverbs 31 woman that God calls me to be? How can I be any kind of woman God calls me to be?
As far as where and how to fit God in to all this. You cant "fit" God into anything God is everything and everything is His. He desires to be involved in everything we do; we are His creation, made in His image. The creator of the universe desires to have a realtionship with YOU. How can we not spend time with Him? You must feed yourself spiritualy everyday. NOT just a little bible reading and a two minute devotional along with the rushed prayer time between dropping off the kids and arriving to work that will not satisfy our craving to be closer to God. It is a constant awareness of His presence that will. Maybe you realize that you may have not had a quite time with God this morning, well that isnt the only time God wants with you. God is the one that loves you more than anyone...that's right...ANYONE. As we go through our busy day we can talk to him. Ask Him what His will is for our lives. While folding clothes..thank Him for having clothes to fold or food to prepare. Also for dishes to wash and a house to clean. And, don't forget to thank him for that guy that you are one with that is probably still on the sofa. We need our quite time. But, we also need a daily, every second relationship with Him. Don't fill your life up with so much "stuff" that you neglect the most important part of it, a relationship with the One who gave His life for you.....Jesus Christ!!!
When it appears the hubby isn't doing his part around the house, it sometimes angers us. We finally crawl in our comfy bed hoping our "Night in Shining Armor" is asleep. Not a chance, he is wide awake and yes, he wants sex. So, do we have a biblical reason to deny him his desire. Do we have the right to say no? After all, all he had to do today was get out of bed, shower, eat, go to work, come back home lay on the sofa, eat , lay on the sofa some more. He had a break, you didn't. So what are we to do?
Answer: Well, if you want to honor God then you lay a big ole' smacker on him and say " baby lets get it on!" Even if you think he doesn't deserve it. Think of it this way....by doing so, you are honoring God! Now that's a Man who deserves your honor!!! The bible tells us we are to be submissive to our husbands.
Ephesians 5:22-24 (NIV) 22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Also, the Proverbs 31 woman worked like us...I would even go as far as to say even harder. Now, while we may not be able to be all she is...we can strive to be a what God commands us to be.....Godly.
A Wife Of Noble Character
Proverbs 31: 10-31 NLT
"Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is
worth more than precious rubies. He husband can
trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She will
not hinder him but help him all her life. She finds wool
and flax and busily spins it. She is like a merchant's ship;
she brings her food from afar. She gets up before dawn
a to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the
day's work for the servant girls. She goes out to inspect
a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She watches
for bargains; her lights burn late into the night. Her hands
are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber. She
extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms
to the needy. She has no fear of winter for her household
because all of them have warm clothes. She quilts her own
bedspreads. She dresses like royalty in gowns of the finest
cloth. Her husband is well known, for he sits in the council
meeting with the other civic leaders. She makes belted
linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants.
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she
laughs with no fear of the future. When she speaks,
her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she
gives instructions. She carefully watches all that goes
on in her household and does not have to bear the
consequences of her laziness. Her children stand and
bless her. Her husband praises her. There are many
virtuous and capable women in the world, but you
surpass them all! Charm is deceptive, and beauty
does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will
be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise."
